The Max and Ruby show originated from a series of children’s books by Rosemary Wells. The show’s charming simplicity and the loving relationship between the siblings have made it a timeless favorite. Max and Ruby-themed cake is always a hit at children’s parties because it brings the beloved characters to life in a delicious form.
I think it was from this show that my desire to cook began. After all, I dreamed of growing up and making a cake using the best Max and Ruby cake recipe. I remember wanting to invite friends, treat them, and have them praise me.
The picture has changed a little and now I am preparing this cake for my daughter and her friends are admiring it. But I think that’s great too.
Inspired by the classic episode where Max makes a cake for his grandmother, this cake is simple yet delightful.
Fun Facts: Did you know Max and Ruby’s grandma is voiced by Kay Hawtrey? And the show was first aired in 2002! These little trivia bits can make your baking experience even more enjoyable.
A classic vanilla layer cake, soft and fluffy, made with a blend of simple ingredients for a delightful homemade dessert. Perfect for any occasion and easily customizable with your favorite frosting and decorations.
Before I start working with the dough, I turn on the oven. I need a temperature of 350°F (175°C). To prevent the cake from sticking to the pan, I grease the sides with butter and sprinkle a little flour on the bottom.
In a bowl, I whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, I cream the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
I add eggs to the second bowl. It is better to add them one at a time and mix each egg well.
And again, I pour everything from the first bowl into the second bowl. But I do this alternately with milk – that is, a little dry ingredients, then milk and pour out the rest. Finally, I stir in the vanilla.
I pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
After letting the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, I transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
I make my favorite buttercream frosting.
I frost the bottom layer, add the top layer, then frost the entire cake.
Decorating is the fun part! I get creative with different designs.
