Equipment

  • Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Utensils
  • Cutting Board
  • Chef’s Knife
  • Colander
  • Medium Skillet
  • Plate
  • Paper Towels
  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Dried Cranberries
  • Shredded Cheese
  • ¼ Cup Sunflower Seeds
  • 2 Broccoli Floret Bunches
  • 6-8 Bacon Strips Cooked, Crumbled
  • 1 Medium Red Onion
  • 2 Tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise
  • ⅓ - ½ Cup Sugar

Instructions

  • Set the medium-sized skillet on a burner. Raise the temperature to medium heat. Place the bacon slices in the pan. Cook the bacon to desired crispness, using tongs to flip the bacon to cook both sides.
  • Use the tongs to remove the bacon from the skillet to place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Allow the bacon to cool before using the Chef’s knife and cutting board to slice up the bacon into crumble pieces. Set aside.
  • Either by hand or using the cutting board and chef’s knife, remove the broccoli florets and shape them into bite-sized pieces.
  • Now that the broccoli florets have been cut and sized, place the broccoli in a colander. Thoroughly rinse with water to remove any debris or dirt. Allow the broccoli to dry. Set aside.
  • Cut the onion. Set the onion on the cutting board and use the chef’s knife to remove the ends of the onion. Slice the onion lengthwise and remove the peel. Then, dice the onion. Set aside.
  • Now that the base ingredients have been all prepped, it’s time to add them to the large mixing bowl. Add the dried cranberries, diced red onion, crumbled (and cooked) bacon, sunflower seeds, and shredded cheese to the mixing bowl. Give it a good stir to combine the ingredients.
  • Pull the small mixing bowl in front of you on the counter. Measure out the dressing ingredients which include vinegar, mayonnaise, and sugar. Add to the mixing bowl. Use the whisk to stir and thoroughly mix the dressing ingredients together. ‘
  • Pour the dressing into the large mixing bowl with the base ingredients. Give it a good mix and stir to incorporate the dressing with the base ingredients.
  • Cover the mixing bowl. Place in the refrigerator to allow the broccoli salad to chill before serving.
  • Serve this replica Chicken Salad Chick Broccoli Salad Recipe chilled. Enjoy!

Notes

  • To replace the homemade dressing, pick out a slaw dressing to add to the base ingredients instead to save time and effort!
  • The step with the bacon can be skipped if desired. Simply buy bacon bits at your local grocery store instead to decrease the cooking time for this recipe.
  • Broccoli florets can also be bought pre-cut and prepared for convenience as an option to replace preparing and cutting the broccoli florets.
