Old Fashioned Turkey Hash Recipes: How To

Today, we're going to be looking at old-fashioned turkey hash recipes. Turkey hash is the perfect way to use up any leftovers you have from Thanksgiving. Not only does it help to stop any food waste, but it's also pretty damn delicious too! Old-fashioned turkey hash is as traditional as it comes. What's great about hash is that although there is a recipe to follow, you can follow it as closely or as loosely as you'd like. The main idea of hash is using up any leftovers you have available in your fridge.

Ingredients
  

  • 4-6 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 cup of celery chopped
  • 1/2 cup of onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup of green bell pepper chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons of red bell pepper chopped
  • 2 cups of potatoes cooked and diced
  • 1 1/2 cups of turkey cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup of turkey gravy
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley chopped
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare
    Gather all of the ingredients you need for this recipe and place a skillet over a medium heat and add around 4 tablespoons of butter.

  • Make the hash
    Once the butter is warm and melted, add the green and red bell peppers, along with the onion and the celery to the pan. Stir frequently and leave cooking until the veggies become soft and tender, and the onion turns translucent. Once the veggies are cooked, add the cooked diced potatoes, along with the remaining butter (which should be around two tablespoons). Leave to cook for around 5-10 minutes. The potatoes should be slightly browned before you move to the next step.

  • Simmer
    Now add the chopped turkey, turkey gravy, and parsley to the skillet and add salt and ground black pepper. At this point, taste the hash and add additional salt and pepper according to your tastes. Once you've seasoned, leave to simmer for around 15-20 minutes; ensuring you are stirring every so often.
