Ingredients
  

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 onion finely chopped, large
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns

Instructions

  • Preparing the Patties
    Mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Form the mixture into patties. I recommend making them slightly larger than the buns as they shrink somewhat while cooking.

  • Preparing the Toppings
    Cut the buns in half.
    Prepare your favorite toppings: slice tomatoes, and pickles, and get the lettuce and sauces ready.
  • Grilling the Patties
    Preheat your grill or skillet to medium heat. For extra flavor, you can use charcoal on the grill.
    Place the patties on the heated surface. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until you get a nice crust and your desired level of doneness (medium doneness is about 160°F inside).

  • Melting the Cheese
    A minute before the patties are done, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty.
    Cover with a lid or aluminum foil to help the cheese melt evenly. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

  • Toasting the Buns
    While the cheese is melting, toast the buns. Place them cut-side-down on the grill or skillet.
    Toast until golden brown and crispy. This takes about 1-2 minutes.
  • Assembling the Cheeseburger
    On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf.
    Next, add the patty with melted cheese.
    Add tomato slices and pickles.
    Drizzle with mayonnaise, ketchup, or barbecue sauce to taste.
    Cover with the top half of the bun.
    Serve the cheeseburger with crispy fries and a cold beverage.
    You can also add some pickles or coleslaw on the side for a complete meal.
