Taco Bell Fun Facts
It’s Named After The Founder
No, the founder’s name was not “Taco”…the other one! Yes, “Bell”!.
Glen Bell is a California entrepreneur that had a passion for expanding his business endeavors, which encompassed anywhere from miniature golf courses to hot dog stands. He opened up his first Taco Bell store in 1962 in Downey, California. At this first location, visitors got to hang out by a fire pit outside as there was no indoor seating available.
Discontinued Items Galore
Many stores discontinue items, whether due to popularity or expenses for the production of the product.
Some discontinued items include the chiliburger that was available on the original menu. Next was the Bell Beefer, similar to a sloppy joe but made with taco beef, in the ‘70s. Then there was the Black Jack Taco that was presented for Halloween in 2009, which many Taco Bell fans were not pleased about!
More notably is the discontinuation of the Beefy Crunch Burrito. Taco Bell fans have really been adamant about bringing this particular food item back onto the Taco Bell menu. And Taco Bell fans are notorious for getting what they want!
